Bricklaying

Bricklayers in Medway and Mid Kent

Our contractors provide bricklaying across Medway, Maidstone, Gravesend and Faversham, from garden walls and porches to the shell of a full extension. Each job is built by an experienced bricklayer and managed by one project manager from foundations to finish.

About this service

Our bricklaying service

Brickwork is the part of a building everyone sees for decades, so it has to be right. Matching an existing brick, keeping courses level and getting the mortar colour consistent makes the difference between an extension that looks original and one that looks added on.

On larger builds our bricklayers work in sequence with the groundworkers, roofers, electricians and plasterers. Because one project manager runs the programme, the next trade is ready as soon as the walls are up.

Questions

Bricklaying questions answered

Cannot see your question? Send us a message and your project manager will reply.

Can you match new bricks to my existing house?

Yes. We source bricks to match your existing colour, texture and size, and match the mortar so the new work blends in with the original.

Do I need planning permission for a garden wall?

A garden wall can usually be up to 2 metres high without planning permission, or 1 metre next to a road or footpath used by vehicles. Listed buildings and conservation areas can have different rules.

Do you build extensions?

Yes. We manage extensions from the foundations to the final coat of paint, bringing in bricklayers, roofers, electricians, plumbers, plasterers and decorators as one team.

What is repointing and when is it needed?

Repointing means raking out old, crumbling mortar and replacing it with fresh mortar. It is worth doing when joints are eroded, as damaged pointing lets water into the wall.
